How much does an MC cost in the UK?
2026 guide · Weddings, private events and corporate
The right host shapes how your whole event feels. Here's what to expect to pay, what changes the price, and what you get when you book through SJE & Co.
The short answer: it depends on the length of your event, the type of event and the talent you choose. A wedding or private celebration usually costs less than a corporate booking, because corporate work involves scripts, sponsors and tight running orders. Our starting prices are below, and every quote is tailored to your event.

What affects the price
- Length of booking. A ceremony and speeches costs less than a full day or an evening that runs late.
- Type of event. Awards nights, conferences and multi-speaker programmes need more preparation than a single welcome and handover.
- The talent you choose. Hosts and announcers with major credits, specialist skills or several languages command higher fees.
- Location and travel. We're based in Manchester and work across the UK. Travel and, where needed, accommodation are quoted separately.
- Date and notice. Peak wedding season, December and short-notice bookings can affect availability and price.
What's included with every booking
- Personally matched talent. We recommend the right person for your audience and format, not whoever is free.
- A planning call to understand your event, your guests and the atmosphere you want.
- A clear running order, agreed in advance, so everyone knows what happens and when.
- The SJE & Co Delay Plan, our approach to keeping your event on track when timings change on the day.
- An introduction call between you (and your planner, if you have one) and your host before the event.
- One point of contact from first enquiry to the final bow.
Is a cheaper MC a false economy?
Not always, but a host carries the timing, the energy and the awkward moments of your event. When speeches overrun, a supplier is late or the programme changes, an experienced host keeps things moving without guests noticing. That calm under pressure is what you're paying for.
