Privacy policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
SJE & Co ("we", "us") supplies MCs, speakers and presenters for events across the UK. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our enquiry process, why we collect it, and your rights.
Who we are
The data controller is SJE & Co, run by Sonia Joy and based in Manchester, UK. You can contact us about anything in this policy at enquiry@sjeandco.com.
What we collect
If you enquire about a booking, we collect the details you give us in our enquiry form or by email, such as your name, email address, phone number, organisation, event date, location, event type, budget and any other information you choose to share.
If you apply to join our roster, we collect the details in our application form, such as your name, contact details, location, website and social media links, languages, specialties, rates, a short biography, and, if you choose to provide it, your gender identity (used only to meet client-specific requests).
If you sign up for one of our free resources, such as The Host Brief, we collect your name and email address and record whether you agreed to receive emails from us.
We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry, recommend suitable talent and prepare quotes and bookings.
- To introduce you to the talent you book, and to share the event details they need to deliver it.
- To assess roster applications and, if accepted, to put talent forward for suitable events.
- To send you resources and occasional emails you've asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep business records and meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Our legal basis
We use your information because it is needed to take steps towards, or carry out, a contract with you (for example, preparing a quote or managing a booking); because we have a legitimate interest in running and improving our business and responding to enquiries; with your consent, where we ask for it (for example, marketing emails); and where we must keep records by law.
Who we share it with
We never sell your information. We share it only where needed:
- Talent and event partners: the MC, speaker or presenter you book, and, where relevant, the planner who referred you, receive the event details they need.
- Service providers: Google (Google Forms and Google Sheets, which store form responses), our email host, and GitHub, which hosts this website.
- Where required by law, for example to our accountant or to authorities.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become bookings: up to 12 months after your last contact.
- Booking records: 6 years after the event, for accounting purposes.
- Roster applications: for as long as you're on our roster, and up to 12 months after an unsuccessful application or after you leave.
- Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to ask for it to be transferred, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email enquiry@sjeandco.com and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
